    Hi Brad,

I watched the video, thank you.

I could upload the remaining 6 pictures and figured out how the order works. 🙂 This is great.

    1. Some pictures (#5,6,8 and 9) do not align in the photo gallery in the footer. I’m sure it is something that can be fixed.

    2. Also, after I watched the video, I started working a bit with the photo gallery to see how things work. I noticed when I uploaded Image 10, it changed the 9 images in the footer automatically. It looks like that the footer shows the last 9 uploaded images. This means that I cannot pick and choose which images will be in the footer because it is always going to be the latest 9. Is that right?

    3. I added a new page because I wanted to do the same I saw in the youtube video. I went to Appearances->Theme Options->short codes but could not find the “portfolio gallery” codes. There was only a “photo gallery” shortcode which I copied and pasted in the page. That code did not allow me to add my category under which my images are saved. So when I clicked publish and went to view the page, it did not look like a slideshow. The pictures were placed one after the other. Where are the “portfolio gallery” short codes? I’m looking for something that says “your category name here”.

Thank you for answering these questions. And I noticed that the menu now is only one line on the homepage. Thank you so much if you fixed that.

    Regards,
    Anita

I also noticed for my third question above that there is no “gallery” template in my theme. The video said to choose the gallery template when put the codes into a page but I couldn’t find that template in Girlie.

    Kindly use this shortcode
    [photogallery filter=”true” catname=”category-4″]
You have to input slug name in catname

    Hi Brad,

Thank you very much for fixing the photo gallery in the footer. And I’d like to say thank you for your patience with me and for answering all my questions. This is a learning curve for sure but I am happy to learn.

I found the Photo Gallery page and I added the shortcode you gave me. I had no idea what slug name was 🙂 but I managed to find it. So I added photo-gallery as slug name. I clicked on update and then view. The page has all the picture that are in the photo gallery, however, they are placed one after the other. How can we make it into a slide show like the one in the video?

    Thank you,
    Anita

Thank you, Brad. I’m very happy though that you helped me make a nice photo gallery in the footer and that one has a slide show. It is very nice.

My next question is about the social media icons in the footer. My 4th icon links to yellow pages but it doesn’t show the symbol. I got the “walking fingers” symbol from Yellow Pages in jpeg and png formats. I just don’t know what to do with the files and how to embed one of the formats into the theme so that the walking fingers would show. Can you please help me with that?

    Thank you,
    Anita

    Hi Brad,

Thank you so much. It looks great and it was very fast.
I’m only wondering if social icon 4 (yellow pages) and icon 5 (alignable) could be opened in a new window when you click on them? But if not, that’s ok.

I am also wondering about a newsletter. I would like to set up a newsletter section or button on my site. When people read my site and want to subscribe to my newsletter which I send out monthly, I would like them to be able to click on something. But I don’t really like the ones that automatically pop up and are in your face. I’d like something visible but more subtle. Do you have a suggestion?

    Regards,
    Anita

    Hi Brad,

I’m still learning the newsletter plugin. I have some questions about it but first I’d like to ask about the “Contact” page.

I read the documentation, it looked easy enough. But:

    1. The map doesn’t show. I went to google, got the iframe, embedded it as suggested and no map.

    2. I entered my email address ([email protected]) in the contact form short code where it says “[email protected]”. Is that ok, or should I leave it the way it was ([email protected])?

    3. I tested the contact form. And it was a good thing. After I sent the message it said “Thank you! A representative will get back to you very shortly.”
I don’t have a representative, it’s only me. I went to the Editor and tried to find where to change the text but I couldn’t. Where can I change the text?
Maybe we could say, “Thank you! I will get back to you shortly.”

    Thank you!
    Anita

    Hi Anita,

Issue resolved. Kindly check and confirm. On the contact us page whenever you want to add code then make sure you have selected text mode.

    Regards,
    Brad

    Hi Brad,

Everything looks great, thank you very much!

Yes, I used the visual mode, not the text. I’ll use the text mode next time.

Regarding the newsletter plugin, I don’t know what to insert in the brackets in the Setting->Signup Confirmation:

This is the email content by MailPoet:

“We need you to activate your subscription to the list(s): [lists_to_confirm] by clicking the link below:

[activation_link]Click here to confirm your subscription.[/activation_link]

I don’t know what to put inside the brackets and if I have to keep the [ ] or not.

Another one is in Basics->Link to Browser Version:

“Display problems? [link]View this newsletter in your browser.[/link]

What do I insert here, what link? And do I insert a link here under Settings or in the newsletter and keep the Settings as is?

I went to the MailPoet website and under Support I found answers to some other questions I had but I couldn’t find answers to these.

    Thank you,
    Anita
