    Hello,

    I was looking through footer.php but I am not able to find where I could remove the quick links or even recent posts?

    They come from appearance>theme options>footer

    In case of removal go to appearance>widgets>add anything like drag and drop any widget in footer widgets 1-4 and you should replace what is shown default.
