Kindly go to Settings>Readings>Remove blog page from there.

And then go to Pages>edit the blog page and then select under page attributes blog template and save.

Now it won’t show slider on top.

Your site shows coming soon so i am not able to view. On sidebar you can add your own widget. So basically add a text widget and add the testimonial shortcode. So this way it will show the testimonials but remove the blog part.

No idea because we never thought our theme to have a background slider. Currently when i see the site it floats on top of the slider. Do you mean the top navigation should stay on top and rest should float?
