During the interview, we realized that he is involved with WordPress stuff since 2004!
Never wanted an easy job but always wanted an interesting one. So, here I am, involved with WP related stuff since 2004.
Q. How did you get to know about WordPress? Share if there is an interesting story.
Ans: I remember forking WordPress back in the days that backend was using 1kb stylesheet file and a horizontal options’ menu WordPress was such a revolutionary CMS those days and its obvious upcoming community grow success made me fall in love with it.
Q. How does your workstation look like? Can you send us a picture?
Ans: Im mostly working as a digital nomad – thus there is no specific setup for me. Im usually using my phone and my laptop, on the go.
Q. What interesting feature do you think you would like to see in WordPress and is currently missing?
Ans: What I thought as missing features in the past, were implemented in one night, so, since the whole community is moving to a new era, with Gutenberg Phase 2, i’m pretty sure that there are LOTS of interesting featured that will be launched soon.
Q. Out of the current plugins and themes which one do you like the most and why?
Ans: Im not usually positive in using plugins/themes. I prefer custom code, as every need is a custom one. Generally speaking, I do mostly like themes that not only change the appearance of your visuals, but they do extend core functionality. I.E Pinclone theme ( https://pinclone.net ) which transforms your WordPress website to a Pinterest community with all needed functionality.
Q. Have you ever been to any WordPress meetups or WordCamps? Share your thoughts on WordPress Community.
Ans: I gave a few talks at WordCamp Frankfurt, WordCamp Bucharest (x2), WordCamp Lausanne, WordCamp Bristol and WordCamp Europe. Every local WordPress community I visited, and had the chance to speak at its events, was a superb one, with great and talented members!
Q. Any awesome technology you want to share other than WordPress?
Ans: WordPress is really a CMS under which you can do WHATEVER your needs ask you to do these days. I cannot think a reason for using another technology, at the same time you can implemented everything around WordPress and have the lovely support of the whole community.
Q. Do you like/love what you currently do in WordPress?
Ans: Of course I do – I often face challenges, which is really interesting.
Q. Where do you find yourself after 5 years
Ans: I could answer this easier before 2020. What I can for sure tell you is that Im not thinking myself sitting in a fancy office and I do really enjoy being a digital nomad.
Q. To whom you give credit for your success?
Ans: Obviously WordPress and its amazing global community.
Q. Can you give us some reference for whom we should conduct an interview next and why?
Ans: I do believe that one of the persons who involves in a different and full usable way in WordPress community is Johnny Nguyen. It would be really useful to interview him.
Q. How do you reward yourself?
Ans: Im getting rewarded by facts – I like that it happens this way. It makes reward myself on purpose, unnecessary.
Q. Any suggestion for WordPress beginners?
Ans: Be a part of the community. You cannot imagine how helpful it will be!
